Iso E Super

Iso E Super is a synthetic fragrance that was patented in 1975. It is mainly found in perfumes, but also in soaps and detergents. It has a pleasant warm woody-musky scent. Modern perfumery is based on the synergy of natural and synthetic ingredients. Both have the same meaning for the perfumer.

In the past, only natural ingredients were used, the turning point came in the 19th century, when biochemists created modern synthetic ingredients.

In the perfume industry we encounter natural, polysynthetic and synthetic ingredients. Natural ingredients are oils extracted from flowers, fruits, woody plants, spices or resins. They can also be of animal origin, e.g. musk or ambergris. However, natural raw materials often did not reach the required quality, their processing was time and financially demanding and could have a negative impact on the environment.

Polysynthetic additives are created from some synthetic or natural tones. Synthetic components are completely man-made to reproduce natural tones. Synthetic components often have a longer shelf life and their creation does not negatively affect the environment in any way.

A very good example is the synthetic musk that replaced the natural one, thanks to which the well-being of the now protected Kabara musk, from which the animal musk comes, is ensured.

In women's and men's perfumes, natural tones such as water accords, powder tones or salt are represented, but also synthetic tones such as aldehydes, indole or cashmere. They provide a wide range of uses and inspiration for many perfumers, but also new challenges for scientists and chemists.
