
Gardenia
GARDENIA JASMINE comes from Asia and is named after the botanist and physician Alexander Garden. There are approximately 60 species of this evergreen shrub used for decorative purposes. It has a white floral scent with green and earthy undertones.
Occurrence: This plant with white to creamy yellow flowers is native to China and Japan. It was imported to Europe around 1750. Up to 130 species are known, but the most popular species is Gardenia Jasminovita (Gardenia Augusta), which grows up to one meter in height. You can recognize it not only by its shiny, dark green leaves, but above all by its enormous flowers, similar to roses, with a diameter of 5 to 10 cm. Gardenia blooms from July to October. After blooming, the flowers are bright white, gradually their colour changes to cream. Gardenia stands out with a strong, sweet scent very similar to jasmine.
