Cocoa

COCOA or cocoa beans are the seeds of the true evergreen Cacao tree (Theobroma cacao) called the cocoa tree.

OCCURRENCE: It grows in equatorial regions where the climate is humid and hot. 70% of cocoa beans come from West Africa (Ivory Coast), Ghana, Nigeria and Cameroon. Ghana and Ivory Coast are the largest exporters and account for more than half of the world's total production. They are followed by Indonesia, Nigeria, Cameroon, Brazil and Ecuador.

What does cocoa smell like? It has a warm scent with an amber-balsamic undertone. Cocoa is the basic raw material for the production of chocolate.
