Cardamom

Cardamom is an exotic spice originally from India, Sri Lanka and China. It has an aromatic spicy scent with a bitter undertone.                                               

History: History has it that Cleopatra, in love with Mark Anthony, lit cardamom before their love encounters.                       

 Description: There are two types of cardamom. One is green cardamom (also known as true cardamom, bleaching produces white cardamom, the Latin name is Elettaria cardamomum), the other is black cardamom (also known as brown, long or Nepalese cardamom, (Amomum subulatum).

USE:

It is most used as a medicine and flavouring . It belongs to one of the most expensive spices in the world. It is strongly aromatic, it has a unique spicy to bitter taste. It contains vitamin A, B6 and C, sodium, potassium, calcium, iron, magnesium and others. Cardamom as a spice is not considered an allergen, essential oil is, however, and can irritate the skin.
