Vanilla
?The most popular fragrance and a powerful aphrodisiac ?
Vanilla is undoubtedly the most popular fragrance ingredient in the world, which has a sweet, very pleasant aroma that is associated with the smell of vanilla rolls. Like ambergris, it is an integral part of oriental perfumery. It is one of the most requested fragrances in our e-shop. Sensual vanilla perfumes are very seductive, but at the same time not obtrusive. The scent of vanilla consists mainly of vanillin, piperonal and heliotropin.
Vanilla was (and still is) already among the Mexican Indians a strong aphrodisiac, used for perfume seduction, increased sexual desire and general stimulation of the body. It also improves mood, relaxes the mind and relieves stress.
Vanilla (Vanilla) Vanilla is made from the dried and fermented capsule (incorrectly pod) of one of the species of beautiful yellow orchids of the genus Vanilla (Vanilla). It originally comes from Central America and was already known to the original inhabitants of south eastern Mexico - the Toltecs and Aztecs, who called it Tlilxochitl (black pod). They used it as an ingredient in the preparation of drinks from cocoa beans, in corn cakes, but also as a medicinal agent and for overall strengthening of the body. Along with cacao and other hitherto unknown fruits, it has won the hearts of people all over the world since the discovery of America.
Description: Vanilla is a climbing plant - it is a type of orchid. The most famous is Vanilla planifloia (Vanilla flat leaf) originally from Mexico. There are several hundred species of vanilla, but only Vanilla planifolia and Vanilla tahitiensis are used in perfumery.
Occurrence: Distribution of vanilla throughout the world Vanilla planifolia grows in tropical climates in Mexico, South America, the Caribbean, the islands of the Indian Ocean and many other places in the equatorial belt.
Mexican vanilla is considered the best. However, the largest producer of vanilla is Madagascar, with thousands of tons of pods per year. It represents approximately 50% of the world trade with thousands of tons of vanilla beans per year. The country of origin of vanilla - Mexico - accounts for only about 10% of world production. Individual types of vanilla are marked according to place of origin.
Bourbon vanilla is from the island of Réunion in the Indian Ocean (according to its old name Bourbon Island, i.e. l'Ile Bourbon). Bourbon vanilla also comes from the Vanilla planifolia orchid, but its new and better growing conditions bring a much better, richer taste and, above all, a more pronounced aroma. Bourbon vanilla has a slightly woody to smoky aroma.
Tahitian vanilla grows in Tahiti and is very rare and expensive. Its taste is mild, but its aroma is much more pronounced. It contains less vanillin and more heliotropin and therefore has a fruitier touch.
French vanilla is also often used in perfumery and is of high quality.
Vanilla is also grown in Sri Lanka, French Polynesia, Tahiti, the Bahamas, Zanzibar, Seychelles, Java and the western part of equatorial Africa.
Production of natural vanilla essences, synthetic vanilla: In nature, flowers are pollinated by bees and hummingbirds, but on plantations it is done by hand for greater efficiency and subsequent higher pod production. The pods are harvested still unripe after 8-9 months and after harvest they are dried for another 6 months alternately in sun and shade before being fermented and dried again.
