Thyme
Common thyme is a small, densely branched evergreen shrub with white or pale purple flowers. It comes from the Mediterranean, where it grows wild. Its home is southern France, southern and south eastern Spain or southern Italy. Thyme blooms from June to October.
USE:
✅For medicinal purposes, the flowering stem is collected.
✅Thyme is used to prepare essential oil, tincture, syrup
✅ in the form of a dried herb, it is used to prepare tea and decoction.
✅Thyme has disinfectant effects, relieves flatulence, diarrhoea, improves digestion and acts against parasites.
✅Relieves cough, used for bronchitis or asthma. Supports blood circulation Strengthens in cases of exhaustion, anxiety and depression, helps with insomnia.
✅Thyme is used externally in the form of oil - for lubrication in arthrosis, against muscle pain and as a disinfectant.
✅Infusion or tincture serves as a mouthwash and can be used as a gargle for canker sores. Thyme essential oil can be used for chest rubs and massages.
✅Due to the presence of thymol, the recommended dosage should not be exceeded in order to avoid kidney disorders and thyme should not be used long-term. It is also not suitable for pregnant and lactating women and for thyroid gland dysfunction.
