Sandalwood
Sandalwood is an exotic aromatic wood, obtained primarily from the white sandalwood tree (Santalum album).
Description: The wood has a high content of aromatic essential oils in the form of aromatic oil. The white sandalwood tree grows to a height of 4 to 9 meters, is semi-parasitic, evergreen, with serrated odd-pinnate leaves, small, spherical, inedible fruits. The wood is heavy, yellow with a fine grain.
Occurrence: Native to South Asia, found in the West Indies (India, Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka), also grows in Indonesia, Pacific Islands (e.g. Hawaii) and Australia.
False sandalwood has red hues and grows in eastern India (Thailand, Malaysia, etc.). It is widely imported to China and Japan.
USE:

✅In cosmetics for perfumes, because essential oil retains its scent for a long time even after the oil has dried.
✅Scented oil for temple lamps in Hindu, Islamic and Buddhist sanctuaries.
