Orchid

The orchid has been on Earth for over 100 million years and has been known as a houseplant since the 18th century. In the wild, it grows tied to the crowns of trees. Wild orchids are protected plants. They have a vanilla-coconut scent with a citrus undertone. Their name comes from the Greek word orchis, which means testicles, based on the shape of the underground tubers of the genus Orchis. These plants are especially valued for their beautiful flowers of all shades and colors.

Use:

✅The only species that has a practical use is the flat-leaved Mexican vanilla (Vanilla planifolia), whose fruits (fermented pods) are used in the food, liquor and pharmaceutical industries.

✅The orchid is also used in the perfumery industry for its aroma.
