Nutmeg

Nutmeg is an evergreen tree that grows to a height of 20 meters. It comes from Australia, Asia and its tropical southeast regions. The cream-colored flowers of nutmeg turn into yellow fruits, inside which hides a seed, incorrectly called a nut (nutmeg.)

They are mainly used as expensive spices, but they are also used in cosmetics and medicine. It is very popular in Indian cuisine. In India, we find nutmeg under the name Jatiphala. In the kitchen, it is most often used to flavour sweets and, together with cinnamon, it is added to coffee and coffee drinks.

Nutmeg contains alpha-pinene, camphene, beta-pinene, sabinene, myrcene, alpha-terpinene, limonene, linalool, terpinen-4-ol, methyl eugenol, myristicin, elimicin, etc. These substances give nutmeg its therapeutic properties.
