Lotus Leaf

The lotus leaf and flower is a tropical swamp plant with a massive rhizome crawling through the mud, leaves and flowers sticking out of the water. The leaves are almost circular, the flowers are large, with many pink petals. The youngest leaves are floating, the older ones are submerged, 30-90 cm wide, waxy.

The flowers are single, mostly standing above the water, 12-30 cm in size, fragrant. Even though the lotus grows in muddy ponds, it still remains very clean.

Occurrence: Nut lotus grows in stagnant water that does not freeze to the bottom. It is native to Asia, from the Volga Delta to Japan and Australia.

History: The lotus is sacred to Hindus and Buddhists as a symbol of rebirth and purity, while the ancient Egyptians also worshiped it. Due to its unique appearance, it is also the centre of interest in the artistic sphere.

Aroma: Valued for its intense aroma, it creates a sense of calm. The fragrance is often described as floral and earthy.
